Apple reported to be entering GPS market via Merc deal

According to a report in the German magazine “Focus”, Apple intends to begin production of an in-vehicle navigation system. (6/19/2007)

The article indicates that the product will be available in 2009 via an initial exclusive six-month deal with Mercedes.

According to the report, the system will combine entertainment, communication and navigation, although it does not clarify if the navigation will be provided through Google maps, which is a feature of the iPhone.
